Challenge 1: Urban Population Change - the global picture since 1960 in maps and graphs here 1. How has the number of urban inhabitants changed over time? Is this number speeding up or slowing down? [Clue: compare the stats from 1960 and 2019. How many urban inhabitants were there? How many urban inhabitants are there? What's the difference? [2019 total - 1960 total] |
Challenge 2: Study the images in the gallery below. They provide information about urbanisation (the growth of towns and cities). Convert the information to an Infographic or 'Did You Know?' poster that includes the following details.
1. How has the number of urban inhabitants changed over time? Is this number speeding up or slowing down? [Clue: use stats from Gallery images 1-2]
2. Which parts of the World (continents and or countries) are more urbanised than others? [names and stats]. How is this projected to change over time? [Clue: use stats from Gallery images 1-2]
3. How financially important are cities? [Clue: Use stats from Gallery image 7]
4. Why might some people think that cities are getting too big? [Clue: look for information about resource use; environmental issues eg Gallery images 3 and 5]
