Q: When is homework not homework?
A: Just because homework isn't officially set, doesn't mean you can't do any work. Get into the habit of reading through your book/folder notes. Ask yourself questions about the work. Try to recall the key words and their definitions. The more you can remember, the easier the next bit of learning becomes as you have memories to link new knowledge to. Plus as you recall previous learning it strengthens those memories ad makes that knowledge stick. Think of the knowledge you have in your brain as being like a spider's web. Each topic is a schema (a set of knowledge/ideas). Schema can be linked to other schema.
Things to try:
*Make flash cards of keywords and definitions
*Test yourself ... how much can you remember .... use the core/powerful knowledge sheets and trackers to help you
*Go on SENECA - try sessions you have already done or try sessions based upon today's learning
*Use this sheet, or one like it, to recall as much as you can, then check out your knowledge organiser or core/powerful knowledge sheet and boost it us, using a different colour. Over time, Colour 1 will increase and Colour 2 will decrease ... try it and see if you don't believe me!
