Get prepared ...... watch me in preparation for the start of this module .....
Watch the 'Resources' clip and make a note of the following:

1. Names of resources
​2. One way of grouping them together (R vs NR)
Watch the 'Earth's Precious Resources' clip below and make a note of the following:

1. Add any additional names of resources to your original list
​2. What 'm' have we got to get better at?
3. Which resource in particular is a worry and why? Jot down what it is used for.

Homework a:
i) Keep a water log for three days by recording all your uses of water in a tally chart.
ii) Research how much water is used on average per person per day in the UK and whether your water usage is typical 
iii) Find out how much different this would be if you were living in an LIDC of your choosing.

Homework b: 
Create an infographic or revision resource that summarises why resources are in such high demand. Tip: The 'surprising facts' from Lesson 1 were taken from an infographic. Take another look if you have forgotten what an infographic is! 

Take a look at this scrolling graphic about 'the water we eat' here - list any three facts that surprised you and say why eg more than expected, less than expected.

Homework: Food Security

Watch the Josette Sheehan TED talk (see below) on 'Ending hunger now'. She is the head of the UN’s World Food programme (WFP).

Read these questions BEFORE you watch her presentation. You may pause and re-watch sections to help your understanding.
1)  Identify the 5 key messages that emerge from the talk
2)  Identify 4 simple actions that could make the most difference to people
3)  Suggest 3 reasons why it is important to focus on feeding the world’s children
4)  Describe 2 projects the the WFP have tried which have had an impact on food security
5)  Identify 1 thing that you are now going to do in response to the presentation

Make sure that you understand the following terms and phrases from the talk:
•  “2700 KCalories”
•  “The burden of knowledge”
•  “Wawa Mum”
•  “School feeding”
•  “Famines happen in the presence of food”
Over to You: How does your diet contribute to the global carbon foot print? Find out here

Choose 3 foods that you eat and list the impacts .... you may find it easier to set this out in table form or even better be creative and make a poster!
